Bed Sores and Broomsticks
Isn't that a Disney movie? I think Angela Lansbury was in it. Maybe it was Elsa Lanchester. Doesn't matter. I remember Elsa in the Spiral Staircase. That was a good movie. How about Dial M for Murder? That had Ray Milland in it. Another good movie with him in it is The Uninvited. I have that on VHS. Did you ever watch 13 Ghosts? No, not that stupid new one. The real one. I don't know, maybe it's my age but I like the special effects of those old movies or lack of them. The House on Haunted Hill starring Vincent Price is another favorite of mine. The good old movies had dancing skeletons, floating hands, Ouija boards and the smell of mimosa. Do they still make a good scary movie? I don't think so. I go with great hopes after viewing the trailers but it's always the same. It seems that the concentration is all put on grossness. Sure, that stuff makes you jump but it isn't scary. There was recently a remake of The Others. What made it good was that it didn't add ridiculous special effects. Why can't more movies be remade BUT not changed? You can use modern techniques but don't have Dorothy fly into Oz in a 2009 Dodge Challenger. In the end the witch shouldn't have her skin come off layer by layer with some sort of ooze pooling around her. Quit trying to make good fabulous. Let me see the strings on the flying monkeys. It's okay. Just don't put a jet pack on them.
