A letter

Dear Billy,

You are a wonderful dog. I love Gina and Britt but you are my boy. When Stephanie's dogs would try to get close to me, you would let them know that we were a pack and to stay away from me. I don't know how your brain works but there is something in it with feelings. Maybe? Tail wagging, a shoot out into the dining room and back, smiling. Doesn't that signal happiness? I like to think that I am special to you. You guys without a wonderful dog just be quiet. You are to me. There is some sort of connection. Dog experts or Robert would say that you are showing dominance over me. That you are the pack leader. Let them think that. I don't care if you are the pack leader in our little group. Remember Curtis? He was a good cat, no a great cat with dog qualities. That's what made him so great. He showed the same happiness and was happy to be with us. Do you ever miss him? I still do. I wonder if Hallmark has a dog day? Like Father's day or Mother's day? You would get cards and treats. You would spend the day doing whatever you like. You do that everyday so I guess it wouldn't be all that different. There would be a section in the newspapers for dog pictures and remembrances for dogs that have passed. Yep, you are the best. Long may you reign.
